President Trump scored a win over a group challenging the 10% global tariffs after a court said the government can enforce the levies while the fight plays out.

Treasury refunded nearly $22 billion in tariff revenue collected from importers in May, the first swath of such repayments.

A judge urged the Trump administration to back off its appeal of his order to fully refund $166 billion in tariffs overturned by the Supreme Court.

The countries are facing a July 1 milestone to extend the pact. Trump did not say whether he was considering fully exiting the deal.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency official is set to testify in federal court about the government's plans for refunding billions of dollars that importers paid before the Supreme Court struck down Trump's tariffs.

Officials said the order would address issues that have plagued the customs agency’s ability to enforce trade policy, including  schemes that route shipments through a third country.

The White House on June 2 announced a proposal to hit 60 economies with tariffs of at least 10%. That has caused uncertainty for some trading partners including the EU.

The letters come ahead of the scheduled July review of USMCA, which can either be subject to annual reviews going forward, or renewed for 16 years.
