Self-driving truck developer TuSimple Holdings says it won’t be able to file its second-quarter 2023 financial report on time to meet a deadline imposed by the Nasdaq Stock Market.

TUCSON, Ariz. — Pony.ai, a developer of self-driving cars based in China and Silicon Valley, will begin testing its autonomous vehicles in Tucson, with trained safety drivers behind the wheel, in a partnership with Pima Community College.

Self-driving truck developer TuSimple says Union Pacific Railroad will be its first customer to move freight on the company’s fully automated trucking route between Tucson and Phoenix, after making a test run on a similar route in December.

Though it will likely be a decade or more before commercial trucks roll down the road without human drivers, trucks with sophisticated, semi-autonomous driving systems will soon be on the street — with a person aboard to supervise.
