For the last nine months, ports have seen record container volumes with movement limited and more supplies needed. As a lynchpin of our supply chain, managing a port requires high-functioning information systems to predict and plan for supply and demand as well as communicating with every link in the value chain. Recovery means freer movement of goods from port to final mile but how have ports managed container congestion while keeping new shipments moving? The Executive Director of the Port of Los Angeles, Gene Seroka, joins TT's Dan Ronan to discuss what improvements can be made to port operations or infrastructure to mitigate future supply chain stressors.
