USA Truck launched a revised driver incentive package that adds 5 cents per dispatched and paid mile through automatic payroll payments for eligible company drivers, the company announced June 1.

The new structure replaces the carrier’s previous quarterly and year-end bonus programs with two incentive tracks: one tied to mileage and the other to length of service, according to a release.

Under the mileage-based program, drivers receive the additional pay based on dispatched and paid miles, with payments made through regular payroll, the company said. The second component is a company-funded career tenure framework that increases in value with service time and provides milestone payouts over a driver’s career progression.

“Our drivers are the backbone of USA Truck, and we want our compensation strategies to reflect the true value of their loyalty and hard work,” USA Truck CEO George Henry said. “By restructuring our driver rewards, we are shifting the focus toward building sustainable, long-term financial milestones for our team while continuing to incentivize the consistent performance that keeps our customers moving.”

The incentives apply to eligible active company drivers in the carrier’s over-the-road, regional, dedicated and local fleets and are effective immediately, the company said.

In January, a group of three current and former executives bought USA Truck from Denmark-based DSV for an undisclosed sum. The deal marked the third time since 2022 that USA Truck has been subject to an ownership change.

The carrier is now owned by UTAC, a private entity based in the state in which it was founded. UTAC is controlled by Henry, Zachary King and James Reed.

Van Buren, Ark.-based USA Truck ranks No. 76 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America.

In addition to the USA Truck news, Melton Truck Lines, Maverick Transportation and Nussbaum Transportation have all increased driver pay recently.
