ACT Research reported that the average retail sales price increased 11.5% to $64,007 from $57,383 the prior year but was down 1.9% sequentially from $65,234.

Used tractor pricing increased 6%, and truck pricing rose 3% year on year in the second quarter of 2026, Miami-based Ryder said when releasing its Q2 earnings.

ACT Research said sales rose 5.3% to 23,800 units from 22,600 a year earlier, but slipped 4.4% sequentially from 24,900 units.

ACT Research reported that sales increased 10.2% to 24,900 units from 22,600 the prior year. Sales were also 9.8% above the 22,700 units in February.

Profit at Ryder System rose in the first quarter of 2025 as higher contract revenue outweighed ongoing weakness in the rental and used vehicle sales businesses.

Used car prices in the U.S. fell 4.2% in June, their biggest monthly drop since the early days of the pandemic, as a key measure of inflation eases.

Used Class 8 truck sales in February decreased 19.6% year-over-year to 17,600 units from 21,900 units, ACT Research reported.

Demand in the used Class 8 market is softening, experts said, citing steady declines in both the spot freight volumes and rates that so many buyers of used trucks rely on for a living.

The average retail price in March of a used Class 8 vehicle pushed past the $100,000 mark for the first time, ACT Research reported.

January’s average retail sales price for a used Class 8 truck burst past $88,000 to set a new monthly record and post an 83.2% gain compared with a year earlier, ACT Research reported.
