ATLANTA — Truck-leasing provider Ryder System Inc. has signed an exclusive agreement with Aperia Technologies to implement automatic tire inflation as a standard specification across its heavy-duty rental fleet.

Ryder System Inc. will provide dedicated transportation, logistics and fleet management for Mattel Inc. at the toy maker’s Jonestown, Pa., distribution center.

Truck leasing and logistics company Ryder System brought in 5.25% more revenue, enough to set a second-quarter record, but poor used-truck pricing and higher expenses diminished earnings by 30.4%, year-over-year.

Ryder System launched a preventive maintenance program for its pre-owned vehicles, the Miami-based company said. Under the program, customers can finance or prepay for their selected preventive maintenance plan when they purchase a pre-owned vehicle, the company said.

Ryder System Inc. reported profits fell 32% in the first quarter compared with 2016 after a drop in demand to rent trucks and an overall weak used truck sales market continued into 2017.

Ryder System Inc. announced that all new vehicles that come into its North American commercial rental fleet now will include innovative safety technologies, such as forward-looking radar and collision mitigation systems.

Ryder System Inc. profits plummeted 37% in the fourth quarter due to lower used truck sales and higher depreciation costs from lower used truck prices, ending the period significant worse than industry analysts had predicted.
