Ryder System Inc. will provide dedicated transportation, logistics and fleet management for toy maker Mattel Inc. at the manufacturer’s newest distribution center in Jonestown, Pa.
Mattel made the announcement about its 1 million-square foot facility in a July 21 statement.
Located in the Gateway Logistics Park area at the junction of interstates 81 and 78, the distribution center will be used for Mattel, including Mega Brands, and eventually Fisher-Price, “to better and more quickly serve its retail partners and customers in the region,” the company stated.
The center is fully operational, and up to 400 jobs will be generated in Lebanon County during peak season.
The building includes nearly 15,000 square feet of office space and up to 450 secured off-building trailer storage stalls. Mattel entered a long-term lease agreement for the development of the facility in September 2016.
“We are excited to open our newest distribution center in Jonestown,” said Philippe Lambotte, Mattel’s senior vice president of global logistics and planning, global development and product supply. “This facility is centrally located to our customers in the region, allowing us to serve them more rapidly and efficiently.”
