J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. announced second-quarter net income rose 11% to $103.4 million, or 88 cents per share, spurred by rate increases.

J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. has been selected to join the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index, a stock market index based on the performance of 500 large publicly traded companies.

J.B. Hunt Transport Services’ first-quarter income jumped to $91.9 million, or 78 cents per share, from $68.7 million, or 58 cents, a year ago.

J.B. Hunt Transport Services’ net income increased in the third quarter to $102.4 million, or 87 cents per share, from $89.5 million, or 75 cents per share.

J.B. Hunt Transport Services’ net income slipped 6% in the first quarter to $68.7 million, or 58 cents per share, from $73.3 million, or 61 cents per share, due to winter weather that raised costs and reduced revenue growth.

J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. said it is raising its dividend for shareholders by 33% to 20 cents per share.

J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. reported that its fourth-quarter net income rose 9.4% to $91.9 million, or 77 cents per share, helped by stronger intermodal, brokerage and dedicated freight business.

J.B. Hunt Transport Services said Monday its second-quarter profit rose from a year ago, as growth in its intermodal and dedicated contract services segments offset lower trucking revenue.

J.B. Hunt Transport Services said late Thursday its first-quarter net income rose from a year ago as operating income at two of its four business segments rose more than 20%.
