ATLANTA — A task force comprising trucking and transportation industry stakeholders is set to vote on adoption of recommended standards for power cables, connections and other equipment for high-powered electric charging stations for commercial vehicles.

ATLANTA — The North American Council for Freight Efficiency has started to accept applications for its second “Run on Less” competition, focusing on the technologies and vehicle specifications for improving fuel efficiency in trucking.

The turnover rate at large truckload carriers fell 9 percentage points in the fourth quarter, according to an American Trucking Associations report. At 78%, the rate is 10 points lower than it was during the same period in 2017.

Roadrunner Transportation Systems Inc. reported a fourth-quarter loss of $58.4 million, or $1.52 a share, compared with a loss of $23.3 million, or 61 cents per share in 2017. The Downers Grove, Ill.-based truckload and less-than-truckload carrier continues to struggle financially in the wake of an accounting scandal and the departure of several key executives, and at a time when business conditions in the freight industry remain strong.

Daseke Inc. reported March 9 that fourth-quarter revenue increased to $447 million from $257.2 million in the same period last year. The flatbed and specialized carrier said it represents the fifth consecutive quarter that year-over-year revenue growth has exceeded 70%.
