Yokohama Tire Corp. is voluntarily recalling 6,992 of its commercial tires, the company announced Aug. 26.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration was notified by the company that it is voluntarily recalling the size 11R22.5 of its 504C tire brand. The recalled tires were produced at a plant in West Point, Miss., between June 27, 2022, and Dec. 4, 2022.

“The recall, initiated in accordance with NHTSA regulations, was issued because the tires may have been manufactured with an improperly manufactured belt cushion splice,” Yokohama said in a recall notice. “There is potential for air to migrate into the sidewall, increasing the risk of a crash.”

The Yokohama 504C is a highway terrain and all-season tire manufactured for commercial vehicles. The 11R22.5 model was made for all axle positions of the vehicle. It’s designed to enhance the year-round performing ability.
