ransport Topics Publishing Group said it has unveiled an online resource called Transport Topics CareerCenter for employers and job seekers.

Paul Rosenthal, vice president of marketing for TTPG, said the Web site was formally launched April 4 and will be an online extension of the weekly newspaper.

“Transport Topics has been the leading classifieds job resource for the industry for the past 70 years,” Rosenthal said. “With this new resource, trucking companies can reach readers that get their daily industry news updates online.”

Job seekers will be able to post their resumes on the site just as they do on larger job sites such as Monster.com and Careerbuilder.com, Rosenthal said.

“What sets us apart is that we focus totally on the trucking industry,” he said. “People in the trucking industry and job seekers with an interest in the industry will be able to do the same things on our site that job seekers do on the larger job sites.”

Rosenthal said job seekers can search a database for open positions and immediately apply, using a resume they have created on the site.

At the same time, trucking companies can use an online profile to search resumes that match their criteria.

“Our customers will be able to manage their own job folders, have their job postings get prime exposure on our site and even receive e-mailed notifications about resumes that match what they are looking for to fill specific jobs,” he said.

Since the launch, the Web site has already seen a lot of interest from both trucking companies and job seekers, Rosenthal said.

“We already have quite a few resumes posted, and we hope to see a lot more,” he said. “We hope customers will use the site to reach not only an untapped audience in the U.S., but also an international audience.”
