McLeod Software News Updates

McLeod Software is rolling out new AI capabilities, including a virtual assistant that will come with the next version of its core transportation management system.

Tom McLeod said the industry is riding a rate rebound driven by the winnowing of excess hauling capacity that had contributed to a four-year rate recession.

The companies have introduced a software integration connecting Augment’s AI assistant, named Augie, with McLeod’s PowerBroker transportation management system to help freight brokers cover loads faster.

Once a niche service, power-only brokerage has grown into a key transportation model for shippers, brokers and carriers seeking greater flexibility and efficiency.

As trucking and logistics companies invest in cybersecurity measures, fraudsters are advancing just as quickly, using the latest AI to refine and scale schemes.

Back-office functions in trucking and freight brokerage are evolving as artificial intelligence moves deeper into transportation management software.

McLeod Software introduced Version 26.1 of its TMS on March 3, adding analytics tools the company said are intended to help carriers and freight brokers make quicker operational decisions.

The collaboration between McLeod and Aurora, first announced Aug. 28, enables trucking businesses to book and manage autonomous truck capacity using their existing McLeod TMS.

Emerging AI tools promise to deliver significant efficiency gains, but also widen the pathways through which sensitive information travels.

The 40-year-old trucking software developer showcased its own investments in AI along with its partnerships with a growing number of third-party AI technology vendors.
