Returning to defend his Grand Champion title is Todd Flippin of FedEx Freight, who won Twins last year, then placed 11th at nationals. Because Flippin won Twins two years in a row at state, he has to sit out that category and will switch to Flatbed this year.

Eric Damon of FedEx Express will be back in Step Van, after taking the top spot at NTDC last year.

2018 Recap

Colorado Grand Champion Todd Flippin Is Poised to Take the Next Big Step

Todd Flippin, of FedEx Freight, Colorado’s Grand Champion and Twin Trailers victor, is the trucker-next-door very capable of returning home with that big trophy.

Flippin

After thrice earning Grand Champion at states, Flippin is punching his fifth ticket to the “Super Bowl of Safety.” Despite his overwhelming humility, Flippin is training for his moment in the national spotlight. Literally.

“I feel good, but it’s going to be tough,” he told Transport Topics recently. “There’s a lot of good competitors from other states that are going to be there. But, you know what, you can say that every single year. So, [I] just go and do my best and do what I’ve done in the past and we’ll see what happens.”

Flippin placed No. 11 in Twins at the 2018 National Truck Driving Championships. David Mogler of FedEx Freight was the state's top finisher at nationals, placing No. 2 in 3-Axle.

Eric Damon of FedEx Express will be back in Step Van, after taking the top spot at NTDC last year. He also received the Highest Written Exam Award at nationals, with a perfect score.
