Kansas City Southern Turns Second-Quarter Profit

ail line Kansas City Southern reported Wednesday it earned $19.2 million or 24 cents a share, compared with a loss of $27.3 million or 33 cents a year earlier.

Last year’s second-quarter loss was led by about $50 million in charges related the railroad’s acquisition of a Mexican railroad last year. (Click here for previous coverage.)

Revenue rose 8.4% to $413.1 million. KCS did not break out its gains from rail fuel surcharges.
