Interpool Reports Higher Profit for 2006

Interpool Inc., a maker of shipping containers and chassis for intermodal container transportation, reported its 2006 net income rose, in part due to the sale of its container operating lease fleet.Its profit for the year was $106.6 or $3.29 per share, up from $60.5 million or $1.94 the previous year.Revenue dipped to rose to $374.2 million from $416.5 million in 2005. The reduction was in part due to the sale of the container unit, Interpool said in a statement.Interpool last March sold the majority of its container unit to a Swiss investor group for $515 million.(Click here for previous coverage.)
