Ice Storm Wreaks Havoc from Plains to Northeast

A large storm system that left ice on roads from the Plains to the Northeast has caused blackouts and led to at least 13 traffic deaths, the Associated Press reported Monday.

Winter weather advisories were posted along a cold front that stretched from Texas to New Hampshire, and the wintry weather was expected to last through midweek, AP said.

Oklahoma officials declared a state of emergency throughout the entire state, AP reported. Tulsa International Airport had no power and halted flight operations, and most flights at Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City were canceled because of icy runways.

Icy road conditions stretched into New York state, AP reported.
