Diesel and gasoline both declined for a sixth straight week, with diesel dipping 1.6 cents to $3.977 a gallon, the Department of Energy reported.

Gasoline fell 3.7 cents to $3.608 a gallon, DOE said late Monday following its weekly survey of filling stations.

Diesel has fallen 18.2 cents in its six declines and is now at its lowest level since late January. Gasoline has dropped 17.6 cents in the same six-week period.

Monday’s declines left diesel 17.1 cents below the same week last year, while gasoline is 33.1 cents under a year ago, DOE records showed.

Oil, meanwhile, rose 66 cents to finish at $93.36 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, Bloomberg News reported.

Each week, DOE surveys about 400 diesel filling stations and about 800 gasoline stations to compile national average prices.
