Cummins Inc. announced its X12 engine will be available in Autocar’s ACX model beginning in the fourth quarter.

Hagerstown, Ind.-based Autocar manufactures severe-duty, cab-over-engine vocational trucks, including for the weight-sensitive refuse segment.

The combined engine and aftertreatment weight for the X12 is around 2,240 pounds, considerably lower than that of any other heavy-duty system, according to the Columbus, Ind.-based company.

Haulers specifically with the Autocar ACX powered by the X12 engine will see a significant weight savings of 733 pounds versus Cummins’ previous 12-liter engine.
