Big Trailer Rentals Expands Into Southern California Market

Big Trailer Rentals is expanding its Colorado-based flatbed and heavy-specialized trailer rental business to Southern California.

Owner Brad Borst said he has seen enough demand for the company’s business since starting up in Loveland, Colo., in 2015 to justify a second location in Murrieta, Calif., in July.

“I started this company because I realized how many customers only need a large flatbed trailer temporarily — maybe once a week or once a month. Some only need the trailer once, period,” Borst said in an Aug. 18 statement announcing the move.

Clients use the trailers for a variety of activities, such as providing hotshot service or hauling large amounts of inventory. Trailers begin at around 20 feet in length and can stretch for as long as 40 feet. The inventory of rental trailers includes bumper pull and gooseneck models.

Buying a flatbed trailer for occasional use doesn’t make sense, and Borst noted that there also is an expense associated with finding a place to keep the trailer.

“Instead of spending thousands of dollars, customers can come to us and rent trailers for less than $100,” Borst said.
