Amerit Fleet Solutions acquired Pro Reefer, a Canadian fleet maintenance provider that specializes in refrigerated trailer equipment, the company announced May 21.

The acquisition expands Amerit’s service footprint into Canada and adds refrigerated fleet maintenance capabilities for customers in the U.S. and Canada, according to the company.

Founded in 1998, Pro Reefer provides maintenance, diagnostics and repair services for refrigerated trailers and transport refrigeration units. Its customers include businesses in food distribution, cold chain logistics and temperature-sensitive freight.

The company also provides preventive maintenance, emergency repairs and service tied to regulatory compliance.

“Pro Reefer’s deep technical expertise in refrigerated equipment, excellent and tenured leadership team, and strong entrepreneurial culture make the company a fantastic fit for Amerit,” said Ross Rachey, CEO of Walnut Creek, Calif.-based Amerit Fleet Solutions. “This acquisition allows us to further support customers while expanding our service capabilities and geographic reach in Canada.”

Thomas Vandermeer, president and founder of Pro Reefer, said the company will continue to focus on refrigerated equipment service as part of Amerit.

“We are excited to join Amerit and become part of an organization that shares our commitment to reliability, safety and service excellence,” Vandermeer said. “I am honored to lead this organization into our next chapter, which will enable us to deliver even greater value to our customers while continuing to specialize in the reefer services they depend on.”
