Landstar System CEO Frank Lonegro reported a jump in freight brokers interested in joining the carrier’s network of independent agents in the second quarter.

Several prominent freight brokerages have said the decision, while increasing legal exposure, will also reinforce industry safety practices.

The Jacksonville, Fla.-based motor carrier posted net income of $39.4 million, or $1.16 a diluted share, for the three months ending March 31.

Landstar System Inc.’s revenue and earnings declined as market challenges continued in the fourth quarter of 2025, the company reported Jan. 28.

“We are working toward a late 2025 or early 2026 sale of Landstar Metro and have thus far experienced a good deal of interest in that company,” CEO Frank Lonegro said.

Landstar System reported its first-quarter earnings following a two-week delay caused by a supply chain fraud incident, the company said May 13.

Joe Beacom will become president of Landstar System Holdings. Matt Miller will succeed Beacom as vice president and chief safety and operations officer.
