WASHINGTON — A funding proposal for the country’s infrastructure system would likely entail myriad options, such as public-private partnerships and raising taxes on fuel, the former chairman of the Senate transportation committee told reporters May 16.

Bumper-to-bumper traffic along the country’s highways resulted in operational costs to the trucking industry of more than $63.4 billion in 2015, a new report by the American Transportation Research Institute found.

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration’s plan to upgrade the country’s transportation network will be unveiled in a few weeks, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao said at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for the start of Infrastructure Week.

Along with increasing its diesel tax by 10 cents, Indiana recently approved a 10-cent increase to a surcharge tax for trucks.
