YRC Offers Customers Free Mobile Apps

YRC Worldwide’s less-than-truckload units have introduced new mobile applications that will allow customers to check on their shipments and obtain other information through their mobile telephones.

The Feb. 10 announcement from YRC, which provides both national and regional LTL services, said the applications are being provided at no charge for iPhone and Android devices.

A mobile website has been established for other mobile phones.

“The tools give our customers another channel for service, whether they want to track a shipment or chat online,” said Mike Naatz, chief customer officer for YRC Worldwide.

“We want to use technology to make it as easy as possible to do business with YRC,” Naatz said. “Our mobile tools let YRC customers enjoy the convenience of being able to track their shipments whenever and wherever they want.”

Shipment tracking can be done by using the bill of lading, purchase order or the shipment identification “pro number.”

In addition, the application offers access to the latest news from YRC and the ability to communicate with customer service staff through calls, chats or e-mail.

Additional tools are being developed for the website yrc.com/shipping_tools/mobile.html.

YRC, Overland Park, Kan., ranks No. 4 on the Transport Topics 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in the United States and Canada.
