Yokohama Tire Names CEO, Creates Mexican Subsidiary

Yokohama Tire Corp. named a new CEO and said it was opening a new subsidiary in Mexico.

The company said Tuesday that Hikomitsu Noji will become its new CEO, effective May 1. He is also president of the Yokohama Rubber Co., YTC’s parent company in Japan, and will remain based in Tokyo.

YTC also announced establishment of a new subsidiary, Yokohama Tire Mexico, which will be based in Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico, and which it created to meet growing demand for consumer, commercial and over-the-road tires in Mexico.

Yokohama Tire Mexico will be headed by 45-year tire industry veteran Gary Nash, who was appointed president of the new company.

YTC also said that Chief Operating Officer Takayuki Hamaya will be in charge of its day-to-day operations, and that Yasushi Tanaka, who has been its CEO since June 2011, will return to Yokohama Rubber Co. to become assistant to the president of its tire business group, where he will oversee global plant construction and expansions.
