ruckload carrier Werner Enterprises said late Monday its first-quarter net income improved 11% to $22 million or 27 cents a share, from $19.9 million or 25 cents a year earlier.
Revenue rose 8% to $491.9 million, Werner said in a statement.
Werner said diesel prices so far in April are an average of 41 cents, or 24%, higher than a year earlier. If that continues, it said fuel prices would have a negative impact on its second-quarter earnings.
Werner is ranked No. 19 on the Transport Topics 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian trucking companies.
