Volvo’s North American Deliveries Rise 6% in August

Volvo AB said its August North American truck deliveries rose 6% from a year ago.

Deliveries of its Volvo and Mack brands rose to 3,238 trucks from 2,996 a year ago, Gothenberg, Sweden-based Volvo said in a statement.

Volvo-brand truck deliveries dropped 17% to 1,745 units in North America, while Mack Trucks’ sales jumped 68% to 1,493.

For the year, North American sales are up 39% from a year ago, to 34,394 trucks. Volvo sales are up 23%, at 17,646, and Mack’s are up 71%, at 16,320.



Worldwide truck deliveries for all Volvo brands declined 4% to 14,999 units, led by a 22% decline in South America and 2% drop in Western Europe.

Overall, heavy-duty deliveries were flat from a year ago, at 11,730.

Total Volvo Group sales for the year were flat at 147,551, while heavy-duty sales gained 3% to 113,419 from a year ago.
