Volvo Considering Acquisitions in Japan, China, Russia

olvo AB is considering a series of acquisitions in Japan, China and Russia, the Associated Press reported Monday.

As part of a plan to widen its product range, the world’s second-largest truck manufacturer after DaimlerChrysler may increase its 13% share in Japanese truck maker Nissan Diesel to 19% or more, AP said.

Volvo may also acquire a Russian truck manufacturer and is currently considering an alliance with Chinese truck maker Dongfeng.



According to AP, Leif Johansson, chief executive officer of Volvo, told the Financial Times that the acquisitions are intended to help the truck maker reach its growth target of 10%.
