USA Truck’s Chairman to Retire

Truckload carrier USA Truck said its chairman, Robert Powell, will retire in May and be succeeded by Terry Elliott, who has been a director at the company since 2003.

Powell, who has been chairman since 2000, was also CEO from 1988 to 2007. He has been a director since 1983 and was one of the original participants in the group that acquired USA Truck from Arkansas Best Corp. in December 1988.

Prior to that, Powell spent 28 years at ABF Freight System, part of Arkansas Best.

Elliott has been a director at USA Truck since 2003 and serves chairman of its audit committee. He was chief financial officer of Safe Foods Corp,, a food safety company in North Little Rock, Ark,, from July 2000 to August 2009, and served as a director of Safe Foods from 2000 to 2003.



The company also said that Garry Lewis will retire as the company’s chief operating officer at the end of April.
