USA Truck is rolling out a military apprenticeship initiative designed to ease the transition to civilian life for service members entering the transportation workforce, the company announced June 16.
The carrier said its Military Apprenticeship Program is intended to create structured career pathways for personnel leaving active-duty service, helping them move into driving and maintenance roles.
Developed in partnership with workforce development organization Fastport, the registered apprenticeship spans two years and targets positions as professional drivers and diesel technicians, which the company identified as high-demand roles.
A central feature of the program is a dual-income structure intended to reduce financial strain during the transition. Eligible participants can continue receiving their military housing allowance — typically about $1,600 per month — while also earning wages from USA Truck, according to the company.

“We are incredibly proud to launch this program and offer a meaningful bridge from military service to a thriving career in transportation,” CEO George Henry said. He added that veterans bring “invaluable leadership, discipline and technical expertise” and that combining company pay with military benefits helps address financial barriers.
Van Buren, Ark.-based USA Truck said the structure is intended to provide stability for service members and their families during the first 24 months of civilian employment.
The program adds to the company’s veteran-focused initiatives. USA Truck has received Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Pro Patria Awards four times — in 2015, 2016, 2022 and 2023 — and in 2025 received the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award.
The company said it is recruiting transitioning service members for both apprenticeship tracks.
