U.S. Average Retail Diesel Price Falls 1.9 Cents

The U.S. average pump price for diesel fuel fell 1.9 cents per gallon in the past week, to 152.0 as of Monday, the Energy Department reported.

That decline follows two weeks of diesel prices rising, and brings the average price to its lowest level since 150.9 on Jan. 15.

The national price downturn was uniform across the department’s U.S. regional listings -- except for the West Coast, where the average price did not budge from 156.2 last week. In California alone, however, the price dropped a tenth of a cent to 161.2 cents per gallon.

The U.S. Energy Information Agency surveys 350 fueling stations at the start of each week, and reports the results late on the same day that it polls the stations.
