PS Inc. Thursday announced the start of direct air service from Shanghai, China, to Europe along with the addition of three new flights connecting Shanghai to the United States.
The company now flies to more points in China than any other U.S. freight or passenger airline, said David Abney, president of the UPS’ international operations.
“These new flights are part of our strategy to expand our service options, stay ahead of customer needs and solidify our position as the leader in the world's fastest growing market," he said in a statement.
UPS said it will use MD-11 aircraft to fly from Shanghai to Cologne, Germany, five times a week.
The company also added another new flight between Qingdao and Incheon, Korea. Qingdao is a major port and manufacturing center.
UPS is ranked No. 1 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
