PS Inc. will open 22 distribution centers in China this spring as part of its expansion in that country, Reuters reported.

Chief Executive Officer Mike Eskew told Reuters the company would continue to boost its market share in China.

In late 2004, UPS bought out Chinese partner Sinotrans for $100 million and currently controls 23 distribution centers that serve more than 200 cities in mainland China. (Click here for previous coverage.)

UPS runs 18 flights a week between China and the United States, which will increase to 21 flights weekly in March, Reuters said.

Eskew also said the company would increase the number of Chinese cites it operates in, but did not give details.

UPS is ranked No. 1 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
