Two Logistics Providers Expand Through Acquisitions

Two logistics companies expanded through acquisitions, with a Philadelphia freight forwarder buying parts of two California firms and a Detroit-area company buying a Spanish firm.

Freight forwarder Rock-It Cargo said it purchased certain assets of B.E. Logistics, Los Angeles, and Core Logistics Corp. of the state’s Silicon Valley area. A Feb. 4 statement from Rock-It said the new owner will integrate the two acquisitions and run them as a new corporate expedited logistics division.

Founded in 1978, Rock-It started in the logistics of live musical performances. Since then it has expanded into theater, sports and fine arts logistics.

“Core Logistics and B.E. Logistics are a natural extension of what we do best . . . We are very excited to expand our services into the demanding corporate and technology fields,” Rock-It President Michael Rasmussen said in the statement. Terms of the acquisitions were not announced.

Meanwhile, Syncreon International Group, Auburn Hills, Mich., said it has acquired Compuspar, Barcelona, Spain, for an undisclosed amount.

Syncreon does international contract logistics and supply chain management. Compuspar specializes in repair, warranty and reverse logistics for high technology clients.

Compuspar had 2010 revenue of 41 million euros, or about $54.4 million, Syncreon said.

Syncreon is owned by two Irish businessmen, Michael and Brian Enright, and a New York-based private equity firm, GenNx360 Capital Partners.
