The national average price for a gallon of diesel surged 11.3 cents to $3.715, the biggest single gain in nearly 1½ years, according to Energy Information Administration data released Jan. 20.

The national average diesel price climbed 4.1 cents to $3.602, according to U.S. Energy Information Administration data released Jan. 13.
