Trimble has released a cloud-native transportation management system for North American shippers, offering a bundled platform that can be expanded with additional freight management tools.
The Westminster, Colo.-based company said June 10 that Trimble TMS for Shippers is designed for shippers and third-party logistics providers that manage freight planning, carrier transactions, visibility, routing and settlement across multiple systems. The platform combines core transportation management functions with optional add-ons, allowing companies to expand the system based on their operational needs, Trimble said.
The launch adds another software offering to Trimble’s transportation and logistics portfolio, with the company emphasizing freight planning, load assignment and disruption management.
“In an era of constant disruption, shippers need an agile TMS that acts as a strategic nerve center for logistics,” said Chris Keating, senior vice president of transportation and logistics at Trimble. “Our AI-driven platform allows customers to build their ideal system — selecting functionalities they need, from freight procurement to settlement — without the burden of ‘ripping and replacing’ existing infrastructure.”
Keating said the system combines cloud-based architecture with Trimble’s network of more than 210,000 carriers and over 1,500 shippers.
Trimble said the TMS integrates with existing enterprise resource planning products and can connect with tools for transport planning and execution, freight sourcing, freight visibility, dock and yard management, freight audit, and mapping and routing.
The routing capabilities include integrations with PC Miler and Appian. Trimble said Appian is suited for private fleets.

The company said artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities in the platform can support freight planning and assignment, predictive estimated time of arrival tracking, carrier vetting, analytics and compliance-related processes. Trimble also said the system can help users adjust to disruptions tied to weather and geopolitical volatility.
The product is available in North America as a bundled offering for shippers and logistics providers. Trimble said the bundle is intended to provide predictable monthly costs while allowing customers to add functions as needed.
The current bundle includes Transport Assignment, which Trimble describes as “no-touch order” assignment, along with Transport Planner, Freight Visibility, Data Insights, the Exchange platform for integrations, and complimentary Event Management and Attachment Services add-ons.
A Cost Management add-on enabled by PC Miler is available at an additional cost.
