Key Takeaways:
- Trimble launched Arc Agent, a subscription-based AI tool that automates transportation back-office tasks across transportation systems and third-party applications.
- The company said a single agent with customizable skills replaces multiple specialized AI tools while adding governance controls, risk reviews and human oversight.
- Arc Agent is available globally and Trimble plans additional system integrations and skills as it expands AI across its transportation technology platform.
Trimble has launched a general-purpose artificial intelligence agent designed to automate a wide range of back-office tasks in the transportation industry and reduce the need for multiple specialized AI tools.
The technology vendor’s new Trimble Arc Agent connects with its existing transportation management systems as well as third-party applications to extract, validate and process information, including unstructured sources such as emails, PDFs and spreadsheets.
Trimble said the new subscription-based offering differs from many AI deployments because it relies on a single agent supported by a catalog of skills rather than an expanding array of specialized agents.
“The market is flooded with disconnected AI tools that require constant babysitting and manual management,” Jonah McIntire, chief product and technology officer for Trimble’s transportation and logistics segment, said in the Aug. 11 announcement. “We built Trimble Arc Agent to break that cycle by introducing a single, high-performance agent powered by a skills catalog.”
The product also represents a pivot from the multiple-agent approach Trimble presented last year at its Insight 2025 tech conference.
Central to Arc Agent is its expanding list of prebuilt and customizable skills that organizations can deploy or adapt using natural-language prompts. Available capabilities include automating order entry and contract intake, providing truckload market-rate intelligence, supporting customer-service workflows and generating consolidated productivity summaries from emails, calendars and other systems.

Trimble said Arc Agent includes governance controls, risk-review workflows and human oversight features intended to prevent inaccurate AI-generated information. The company said the agent’s decision-making is designed to be explainable, auditable and supportable to help address concerns about AI reliability in mission-critical transportation operations.
Megan Liss, Trimble’s director of AI go-to-market, outlined Arc Agent’s capabilities in a demonstration for Transport Topics.
“Arc is a connection to your data, and then it allows you to actually do work autonomously on top of that data,” Liss said. “It’s a general-purpose AI agent initially specialized with logistics skills.”
Trimble is in the process of natively connecting its own transportation and logistics product lines to Arc Agent via model context protocol servers. Some of those connections are already live, including order entry on TMW.Suite, with same functionality coming soon for TruckMate.

Trimble built the product on top of multiple third-party large language models, including Claude, ChatGPT and Google Gemini, which increases flexibility and reduces reliance on a single model. Customers can invoke specific AI models that they prefer for certain tasks, Liss said.
The Arc Agent launch represents the latest step in Trimble’s broader push to integrate AI capabilities across its transportation technology ecosystem, which connects more than 1 million trucks and 1,500 shippers and retailers, according to the company.
Arc Agent is available globally to Trimble customers under a single-tier subscription model. Subscribers receive 10 hours of agent working time per month, with additional usage available, and gain access to new skills and features as they are released.
