TMC to Wait for EOBR Rule Before Issuing Recommended Practices

AMPA, Fla. — A task force established by the Technology & Maintenance Council to recommend practices for the use of electronic onboard recorders said it will wait until after the government proposes a rule before issuing those guidelines.

Task Force Chair David Kraft said the group was unable to reach agreement on how law enforcement agencies should protect the data and whether all EOBRs should have the same features.

“There are currently many divergent views about EOBRs . . . and a need to develop a better understanding of the issues,” Kraft said here earlier this month during TMC’s annual meeting.
