Texas Posts Signs for Left-Lane Passing

Texas is posting thousands of new signs to remind drivers of the state’s “Left Lane for Passing Only” laws on highways with 75 mile-an-hour or higher speed limits, the Associated Press reported.

The Texas Department of Transportation announced plans last week to post about almost 3,500 new signs by next summer in an effort to boost safety, AP said.

The state’s legislature last year approved higher speed limits for some new stretches of road, and part of a toll road in the Austin area is set to open later this month with an 85 mph speed limit.

Agency officials did not immediately provide information on the current number of left lane-passing signs, AP reported.
