Int’l. to Offer Heavy-Duty Engines in ’07
International Truck and Engine Corp. will start selling 11- and 13-liter engines to the heavy-duty trucking industry for the first time in July 2007, a company official said during a recent meeting with Transport Topics writers and editors.Lisa Evia, a spokeswoman for International, said the engines will be built as part of a joint effort with MAN AG. Evia also said MAN will use some of International’s technologies for smaller engines in Europe.
GeoLogic Simplifies Upgrades
Wireless technology firm GeoLogic Solutions said it simplified the process for carriers that want to download new upgrades by allowing the information to be transmitted wirelessly.John Lewis, chief executive officer of GeoLogic, said the company updates onboard mobile systems by using the network of Cingular Wireless.
“We added this feature because customers do not want to take a truck off the road to upgrade it,” he told Transport Topics.

J.J. Keller Program Allows Repair Tracking
Technology firm J.J. Keller & Associates said it released an updated version of Maintenance Manager to help carriers track vehicles’ repair histories.Fleet executives can receive instant updates of scheduled vehicle maintenance and generate lists of upcoming tasks to improve the monitoring of trucks, the company said June 15. The package also allows users to track company-required inspections and monitors license and other time-sensitive renewals.
Maintenance Manager users also can create work orders and indicate the number of mechanic hours for specific projects, the company said. Transport Topics
