TMI, All American Travel Plazas in Scanning Deal

TMI said it had reached an agreement with All American Travel Plazas, the operator of nine travel centers in Pennsylvania and Virginia, to deploy TripPak Express and TripPak Online document management services at its truck stops.

TripPak offers scanning solutions for fleet terminals, a centralized scanning service for outsourced document management and truck stop trip document image captures services.

Participating fleets can direct drivers to participating truck stops to have images processed and documents returned to the driver. Also, drivers can drop their trip envelopes in a TripPak box to be scanned overnight. Transport Topics

Fuel Cells May Be Used to Power Cell Phones

Fuel cell technology, meant to replace motor fuel in vehicles, could first find a home in laptops and cell phones, USA Today reported Wednesday.

Technology companies are currently designing fuel cells to power laptops for five hours or more, compared with two or three for conventional batteries. They also could work for cell phones and personal digital assistants, the article said.

Early versions of fuel cell products could be sold next year, most likely in Japan, but it would likely be several years before they are widely available in the United States, experts told USA Today. Transport Topics


NWA Cargo Offers New Services on Web Site

NWA Cargo, the cargo subsidiary of Northwest Airlines Corp., said Thursday it had added two domestic shipping products to its online menu of services.

The company said in a release that freight forwarders can now book and track NWA Cargo's "standard" domestic two-day freight and "VIP" small-package products via its cargo portal services Web site.

NWA Cargo's "standard" offers transportation for deferred shipments over 150 pounds while "VIP" provides same-day delivery for packages weighing less than 100 pounds. Transport Topics
