Tenneco Wins Aftertreatment Contract With International
Tenneco said Tuesday it was awarded a contract with International Truck and Engine Corp. to supply exhaust aftertreatment systems for its entire line of medium-duty diesel vehicles with International engines, starting in 2007.The contract is Tenneco’s first in North America for diesel emission control technologies for the medium duty commercial vehicle segment. It said it expects the contract to be for more than 1.5 million units in 2007.
Manufacturing firm Tenneco said it is also providing diesel aftertreatment technology in North America for Ford Motor Co., General Motors Corp., DaimlerChrysler and others in support of new 2007 emissions regulations. Transport Topics
Xata’s 1Q Loss Narrows; Revenue Reaches Record
Fleet management technology firm Xata Corp. said Monday it lost $749,000 or 12 cents a share in its fiscal first quarter ended Dec. 31, compared with a loss of $994,000 or 16 cents a year earlier.Xata said its first-quarter sales rose 41% to $6.4 million from a year earlier.
The company has more than 375 customers operating its Xatanet fleet-management technology tracking and communication system, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Craig Fawcett said.
Xata received $5 million in October from private equity firm Trident Capital in order to meet its Nasdaq listing requirements. (Click here for previous coverage.) Transport Topics
Cummins Extends Engine Agreement With Volvo
Diesel engine manufacturer Cummins Inc. and Volvo Trucks North America said Wednesday they have extended the agreement for the availability of Cummins’ ISX engine with Volvo Trucks North America’s VN and VT trucks.“The ISX has consistently proven itself with Volvo's highly demanding heavy-duty truck customers and we're excited about the extension of our agreement," said Jim Kelly, president of Cummins’ engine unit.
“The Cummins ISX and the Volvo VN are a great combination,” said VTNA Chief Executive Officer Peter Karlsten. Transport Topics
Navteq Expands to Mexico With Map Firm
Navteq, a maker of digital maps for vehicle navigation systems, said it will acquire Gedas MapIT, a company that specializes in providing virtual maps of Mexico, for an undisclosed sum.Navteq, Chicago, said the acquisition will set the stage for future expansion in Mexico as part of its effort to provide seamless coverage of North America.
Gedas is a subsidiary of information technology firm Gedas AG, which is part of Volkswagen AG.
Under the terms of the acquisition, Navteq acquired Gedas’ production facility in Leon, Mexico, and business development and technical operations in Leon and Mexico City. Transport Topics
