Sirius Reports Wider 2Q Loss; Gains Subscribers

Sirius Satellite Radio reported a wider second-quarter loss but said it continued to build its subscriber base and increased its full-year subscriber forecast to 6.3 million users.

The company said Tuesday it lost $237.8 million or 17 cents a share, compared with a loss of $177.6 million or 13 cents a year ago.

Revenue rose to $150.1 million from $52.2 million, largely because of a bigger subscriber base. Sirius added 600,460 subscribers in the quarter, giving it 4.7 million at the end of the period.
