The Teamsters Union said it negotiated a tentative agreement covering newly organized workers at less-than-truckload carrier USF Reddaway, a unit of YRC Worldwide.

The pact would significantly improve wages, pensions, health care and other benefits, Teamsters President Jim Hoffa said in a statement late Friday.

The tentative agreement covers about 425 workers who recently chose to join the Teamsters through card-check at seven former USF Bestway terminals in California, Arizona and New Mexico, the Teamsters said.

YRC units USF Reddaway and USF Bestway in January consolidated into one organization under the USF Reddaway brand.

The company did not have an immediate comment on the labor talks on Monday.

YRC Worldwide is ranked No. 4 on the 2007 Transport Topics 100 listing of North American for-hire carriers.
