Sentinel Transportation Acquires Fuel Delivery Fleet in California

Sentinel Transportation has acquired the fuel delivery fleet of United Pacific, a leading convenience store chain and gas station operator in Southern California, according to a statement by Gardena-based United Pacific.

Sentinel is jointly owned by DuPont and Phillips 66 and provides bulk transportation of chemicals and petroleum products. The Wilmington, Delaware-based company ranks No. 82 on the Transport Topics Top 100 Private Carriers list with a fleet of 439 tractors, 55 straight trucks, 41 trucks and cargo vans and 1,168 trailers.

Terms were not disclosed.

United Pacific CEO Joe Juliano said the sale “will enable United Pacific to focus on its core competencies and continued expansion.”

Earlier this year, United Pacific acquired 251 gas stations and convenience stores in California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Colorado from Pacific Convenience & Fuels. That brought to 380 the total number of retail locations and made United Pacific one of the largest independent convenience store and gas station operations in the western United States.

United Pacific is a portfolio business of Fortress Investment Group.
