ruckload carrier Schneider National will begin offering dedicated intermodal service to customers in the Ohio Valley by next week, the company said Wednesday.

The new service, to take effect by Monday, is a collaboration between Schneider, CSX Intermodal, Kansas City Southern railroad and the Marion, Ohio, Industrial Center.

The new offering will include a Schneider-operated intermodal ramp and dedicated trains running from Marion, Ohio, to Kansas City, Mo., with connecting service to California and the Southwest.

Four trains will run the 700-mile route from Marion to Kansas City and back, allowing for departures six days a week in each direction, ultimately cutting up to one day from existing transit times for freight originating in the region.

Schneider said it plans to expand the offering to include service to both Dallas and Mexico later this year, and is also exploring service to the Pacific Northwest.

Schneider, the largest U.S. truckload carrier, is ranked No. 9 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
