Roadway Express Appeals Demand For Records
John Wislocki
| Staff Reporter
Roadway Express has until April 12 to tell a federal appeals court why it should not have to turn over employment records to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in a case involving charges that the company refuses to promote blacks or hire women.
The federal agency is investigating claims that nation’s largest long-haul trucking company has established a pattern of not promoting blacks into upper-level management or hiring women as truck drivers. Oral arguments before the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati could be scheduled as early as this summer, unless the court decides the case on the briefs that have already been submitted.
