Port of Los Angeles Sets Container Volume Record

he Port of Los Angeles said that for the fourth year in a row it set a nationwide container volume record by handling nearly 7.5 million twenty-foot equivalent units in 2005, a 2.2% increase over 2004.

Representing the first half of its 2006-2007 fiscal year, container volumes in the past six months show an increase of 5.7%, the port said in a statement.

The port said it anticipates growth in container volume to continue this year.
