Allied Holdings Names Poole CEO, West President and COO
The automotive carrier and logistics company Allied Holdings has appointed A. Mitchell Poole Jr. to the position of vice chairman and CEO, as of Jan. 1. He will take the place of Robert J. Rutland, who is to remain chairman.The logistics subsidiary Axis Group's President Randall E. West will take over Poole's current duties of president and COO at the parent firm.
Transport Company Crosses River For Roomier Spot
The Norfolk Southern Railway intermodal division Triple Crown Services is moving from its north St. Louis location to Edwardsville, Ill.'s Gateway Commerce Park, between Interstate 270 and Interstate 255.The Leadership Council of Southwestern Illinois' executive director Jim Pennekamp and Tristar Business Communities President Michael Towerman believe the addition of Triple Crown to the business park should bring additional development to the eastern portion of the St. Louis metropolitan area. Pennekamp said, "Part of the strategy here is to lock onto the distribution and show what a great job we can do with that, and then attract the manufacturing companies."

Jacobs Vehicle Systems Names Gary A. Masse, President
The Danaher Corp. subsidiary Jacobs Vehicle Systems, the leading supplemental braking systems company, has appointed Gary Masse to take the place of William J. Butler as company president. Butler is taking over the new Danaher Electrical Products group. Masse was lately Jacobs' vice president and general manager of the Cummins and DAF business teams. Internet Tests Scheduled by EPA
The Environmental Protection Agency was to conduct Phase Three of its Manifest Automation Pilot program, designed to handle the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act hazardous waste manifest via the Internet, late this year. The Internet testing was set to last roughly three months, largely in New York and Pennsylvania.Participants would be loaned digitizer pads and electronic pens and given technical support to meet the objectives of the program, which primarily consist of studying the feasibility, cost, and potential problems of such automation.The pilot project will also help the agency create automation standards and make changes to the manifest system.
