Penske Logistics to Close Ohio Terminal in March

Penske Logistics plans to close a trucking terminal in Richfield, Ohio, and lay off 92 employees by the end of March, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported Friday. The terminal organizes deliveries for General Motors Corp., the paper said, citing Teamsters union officials. The union represents 69 drivers and dock workers at the plant.Penske trucks pick up parts from GM suppliers and take them to Richfield, where they are consolidated and then delivered to various plants, the Plain-Dealer reported.The terminal is closing because GM has given the work to another company in Detroit, the paper reported.Penske Logistics is a subsidiary of Penske Truck Leasing Co., which is ranked No. 7 on the Transport Topics 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in the United States and Canada.
