Pennsylvania Turnpike E-Z Pass is Not for Commercial Trucks ... Yet

When the E-Z Pass automated toll collection system is implemented on parts of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, it will be accessible by passenger cars only — for now.

The first phase of E-Z Pass is slated to begin Dec. 2 and will cover the areas between Harrisburg and the Delaware River Bridge, as well as the Northeast Extension to the Lehigh Valley Interchange. This section is where 64% of all turnpike traffic occurs, according to E-Z Pass officials.

While the system will be extended statewide to all passenger vehicles sometime in 2001, commercial vehicles will not have the opportunity to use E-Z Pass until 2002.
